Winston, also known as Sébastien Pons, is a French illustrator and background artist based in La Rochelle. Born on June 11, 1979, Winston's artistic journey began at 16 when he spent a year in Japan studying Japanese language, calligraphy, lacquer art, and metalworking.
After completing a preparatory program at ENS Cachan, Winston entered MOPA (formerly Supinfocom), specializing in 3D animation. Graduating in 2002, he started as a freelance director and graphic designer in Paris.
In 2007, following a notable exhibition, Winston moved to Tokyo to work at Ishigaki Production on renowned Japanese animation projects. He was hired to develop a workflow that would seamlessly integrate traditional painting techniques with 3D technology.
Returning to France, Winston released the first volume of his comic book series "The Inari Cycle" in 2016. With over 15 years of experience, Winston has developed a strong expertise in creating immersive environments, blending artistic vision and technical precision.
Currently, Winston continues to collaborate remotely with Japanese studios, leveraging his unique blend of French artistic sensibilities and Japanese animation techniques to create stunning visuals across a wide range of projects.
